New GS Swingarm - Need axle was created by kztee
I am in the process of getting everything mocked up on my 77 1000. I bought a swingarm on ebay last April from a GS1100. The arm did not come with a rear axle. I do not know the year of the bike it came off of. Does anyone know where I can find the proper rear axle? Will any GS axle work aslong as it is long enough?

I think the kz axle is not long enough. I'm doing the same swap on my 77 right now. The axle that came with the arm was so messed up I had to get a new one. I used one of the wrecking yard parts locators and found 3 of them by the next day. Prices are around 20-25 bucks plus shipping. Just look for a 81-83 gs1100e axle and you'll be fine. Also be sure to ask if they have the spacers. You might not use them but it's nice to have them. I lucked out and found a spoked gs wheel with a 5.5 inch akront rim on ebay. Should make the whole thing very easy when I get around to putting it together. Or if you have some way of rethreading the axle I could send you the one that I have laying around before I throw it out. PM me.

Don is helping me out with this by sending me his messed up one that I will try to fix. If that doesn't work there are some used ones on ebay. How much did that run ya, Shoe?

Any of you fine folks have pictures of the installed GS swing arms? I've been kicking around making a change, but nothing as drastic as the after market ones. My bike is pretty much stock & it looks really good, but wouldn't mind adding a little wider tire f'sho.

I parted out two GS bikes a couple of years ago. I'll try and remember to look. I don't like to go to the shop in the winter. I'm a wimp:blush: Roy

From sw/arm to end an additional 1 3/8 inch. thus derived, 13" of shaft + HEAD. G
