I am doing the mag wheel tripple disk swap on my z1, and was wondering what are the best tires to run? I am looking to get a good ware rate, and something that is good in the rain. I am using stock Emgie rims off of a 79 LTD 1000, 19 inch up front and 16 inch in the back. I was leaning towards dunlop 404's? Good Bad?????? Ideas???? Thanks, Jim

I have dunlops on my 1000 now, they have done well in the rain, and seem just fine for overall riding,
Dont know about how long they are going to last yet

the 404's work pretty good for a bike of that weight it was the stock tire on 1200 sportsters for years and they always worked quite well

I'm running Bridgestone Spitfires on mine, raised white letters. I've got an 18 rear tire though, Got about 8,000 miles and they still got lots of life left.

obviously your milage may differ due to numerous different reasons[burnouts many burnouts]have i mentioned that i like doing burnouts.

I got a quick question i got the dunlop 404 for the rear 130/90-16, what is the best front tire to run with it.
Would this one be ok to run with the 404 in the back?

the wheight of our bikes can get more grip from touring compound tires and keep them operating at a good temp...you will love the dunlops and they are worth every penny....mine give the bike a great feeling in repeated hard transitions from leaning to upright to leaning again...(double appex corners) upset softer less stiff tires and get my bike swapping around ...not so with the dunlops.it's funner when you can work a conner and not worry about grip..good choice...bridgstones are my other good experiences choice...peace craig
