530 chain advantages

Is there any significant advantage to running a 530 chain as supposed to a 630? What is the typical gain here?

sorry plummen i have to disagree with the stronger part i've broken three 530 chain's in my time and i never have broken a 630 chain ,if you ride hard or do hard launches the 530 chain won't hold up as well but if your just street riding i would use it the 530 will need to be adjusted more freqently. if you are racing with 530 chain be prepared to change it more often.

ya gotta quit buying that canadian tire/tractor supply chain!:laugh: ive run it on all my kzs for a long time not to mention a certain overdone busa that used to be part of the family with a motor done by muzzy with 2 stages of nitrous on top of it just to make it interesting! :evil: :evil: :evil: :evil::laugh:

that was from a blown alcohal burning big block chevy experiment in a flatbottem dragboat,you should see the side of the piston!:laugh: youd have to ask dear ol dad about that episode thats him on the busa,he dont talk about it too much!:laugh:

ek630 ms don't know strenth figures i likey long time. ek530drzz on bike now no choice clearance problem.find out in spring how much i like.

I did the 530 chain conversion on my z1 900, this past summer. It held up good so far, but i babied it also. After the rebuild this winter i dont think the 530 will hold up to the thrashing i will put on it.....lol. But for regular and sensable street riding it is fine.

74 Z1a 900 (Apart and making it better than ever)
77 Kz 650b (Threw a rod, going to sandwich in a 900 or 1000 motor)
76 Kz 400d
05 ninja zx-636
81 Kz 750 Ltd

the 530 on my z1 stretched a little when i 1st installed it but never had a problem after that and i burned off a lot of cheap tires on the back of that beast with the 1197 !:laugh:

Ya same here plummen, it stretched a bit after i put it on, but didnt have a problem after. Before i brang it inside for the rebuild i burned the crap out of the dunlop i had on the bike, i thought it was cool, but my neibhor didnt exactly appreciate it.......so he called the 5-0, but the cop that showed up has a 1327 turbo z1, so he didnt do anything but chat with me....lol
