kz900 lowering front end was created by OldSchoolHr
I bought new fork tubes for my kz900a4, 1976.
But when I took apart my forks I saw something weird.
My fork tubes are shorter then standar forks.
Standard tubes are 615mm long and my tubes are 588mm.
Fork spring is 488mm and it is mounted without any spacer.
Fork cap thread diameter is 29mm and standard fork cap is
27mm.
I was looking on web and I found that fork tubes on my
kz900 are from kz650d4 or kz650sr 1981.

Did you know for this cross reference? It is perfect
for those who want to lower front end.
You can lower your bike for 27mm without moving tubes
through triple trees.

Kawasaki in saving money has many interchangable parts for the bikes they made over the years. I don't think anyone has figured out what will interchange for the various models.

your posting my closely gaurded cheap lowering secrets!:laugh:early 650,900 and 1000 have same diameter tubes(not sure after 81)i thinkthe physical dimensions of 650 trees is little differant thoug, less trail.kzcsi taught me the class on trail !B)oh yeah dont forget to lower rear around same amount so you dont screw up hi speed handling.

In an effort to lower my Kz1000 I went to find a set of 650 forks. i fouf on ebay two sets. One states that they are 34.5 inches. Is this the correct fork for the conversion? Is there different 650 forks?

Does anyone know, can I interchange h2 inner fork tubes
www.z1enterprises.com/detail.aspx?ID=3539
with kz900/z1 tubes?
They are about 2" shorter.
Can I mount them easily, without other changes?

Hello Tony, the H2 & Z1 fork tubes are the same except for the length. The machining is identical at each end. I do not have a set of 650 tubes to compare against.

would lowering the tree over stock fork tubes be a safe option for lowering the front end?
Couldnt find anything in search feature.
