problem mounting my rear wheel was created by XL777
I recently removed my rear wheel to replace the brake pads on my bike and I'm having trouble getting back on. According to the diagram on the right side there is to be a washer (#25) between the chain adjuster and the fist collar. I have all these parts and I know they came off this way. However, when I put it all back together I can't get the axel into the swing arm, and I'm out by the exact same amount of space as the washer. and ideas

ok I'm not one to put things together wrong, but I took out that washer and everything goes in nice and smooth. What should I do? I leave it out I'm sure I'll wreck something

If reading the question correctly --

Washer fits on the axle between the axle nut and chain adjuster. In other words, the washer fits outside the chain adjuster directly underneath the axle nut. :)

If you take a look at the diagram in the top left corner is washer #25, at least where the manual says to put it. If I set up all the parts accordng to the diragram it wont go into the swing arm. However, if I leave it out and put it on last just before I put on th axel nut it all fits well. However this is not where is says it goes

Looks to me like it's the washer that goes on between the nut and the adjuster on the outside of the swingarm. The diagram doesn't show the swingarm in there, but I am sure that's where it actually goes. I know all my bikes have a washer just like that on the OUTSIDE!

you shouldnt need to pull the rear wheel to change the brake pads, plastic cover on top of caliper should pop off 2 clips and pins holding pads in place should slide out and pads come out top of caliper.reverse to install;)this is the only picture ive got with a rear caliper showing, ltd caliper is a little smaller but not much differance;)

Still recovering, some days are better than others.

On the LTD,, you have to pull tha back wheel in order to change the pads,,, the caliper is small kind of like the front

all the ltds ive had used a similar caliper to the kz1000 with top load pads, the caliper was just kind of chopped off.if you have a rear caliper like the 76 900 ltd uses which is basically a front caliper mounted to bracket on rear wheel you can just unbolt the caliper and remove without pulling wheel, atleast thats how it worked on skipper76s 900ltd when we installed his brakes the wheels were already installed on the bike.;)

Great input everyone. However, on my bike yes I did have to remove it all  it was a biatch to do, but I learned a lot. The reason it all had to come off was due to the fact the caliper is mounted to a bracket and that is mounted on the axel. As well the head of the axel was placed on the right side rather then the left side, making removing the axel nut and sliding the axel out part way not possible. Believe me if there was any other way to do this I would have. I even bought the wrong pads because my bike is "special" the clymer manual doesn't even make reference to my bike haha.
