My Speedo is a whiner was created by ThatGPzGuy
Hey Gang,
The weather has gotten pretty decent here in the ATL so I have been able to ride my bike to work. The last time I took it I noticed a whirring noise coming from the front. At first, I thought it was something expensive like a transmission or...? Turns out the noise is coming from the speedo cluster. I am hoping it is just a question of lube in the appropriate place. Has anyone experienced this? It seems to work OK. If it needs to be replaced I would like to be able to have something that doesn't stop at 85 mph.

If you go faster than the speedo can read you will create a nature imbalance that will create a time flux that will destroy this part of the universe. That is exactly why you cannot really go faster than 85 on that bike. Sure you may think you go faster but it is merely smoke and mirrors. An elaborate hoax that only makes it seem you are going faster. Reality has been replaced with Hollyweird! If you want to go faster than 85mph you must appease the go-fast gods by giving that bad boy GPZ to me and getting a bike with a faster speedometer.;)

I don't believe the gearing is any different on the 85mph units or the 160mph ones. I'm only guessing and trying shennagains to get your GPZ! DOH! Did I say that out loud?

Probably a little oil on the part that's spun by the speedo cable will fix it right up. If you want a 160mph speedometer, the part from a 1983 KZ1000R2 Eddie Lawson replica will bolt right up, but I doubt it still available.

321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

Locozuna,
Ahhh that explains why the faster I go the younger I feel! Thanks for clearing that up. As for your offer to take the GPz off my hands I'm afraid I have to decline. The wife likes it when I am in my 20's :P

RonKZ650, Thanks for the tip. I checked out Motogrid and they list it for $260. If I need to replace it maybe I'll grab that one. In the meantime I can keep my eye on fleabay.
