Master Cylinder I.D.?? was created by 79MKII
Can anyone offer an opinion on what year/model this master cylinder could be from? The only difference I can see from my '79KZ1000 MKII MC is that there is a "14" cast into the housing instead of the usual "5/8". Maybe a 650 or 750?? Any ideas?

This is one of those questions that makes me go hmmmmm? I looked at the rear master cylinder on my 650 C-1 and it doesn't look like the one you have. I know that my 81 750 LTD has a remote reservoir as does my L-3 so we can rule those two out. My 1000 G-1 is stamped 5/8 and has the remote reservoir so there is one more eliminated. I don't have a 1000 A or a 1000 B here to look at or a 750 B but it looks like maybe we narrowed it down to 3 possibles?

I can also say for certain that the 1980 LTD has a remote reservoir. I'm also fairly certain that the 1980 "A" model has a remote reservoir. Knock off 2 more from the list...

Looks like it might be a '78 650 SR. The parts diagram has a comment of "14" for markings. The piston is also a different part number than the MKII, so maybe that's it.

I think you can eliminate the KZ750B from your list, the ones I have (and had), have a bleeder screw on the rear master cylinder.

14 MM is closer to 9/16 than 5/8 but perhaps that what 14 means.

After seeing that side I can say it's from a 650.

That's exactly what I'm hoping for - if it's a true 14mm it's almost 2 mm smaller than 5/8".

Any idea what year/model? I'd like to find a rebuild kit but I noticed that the 650's vary quite a bit depending on year/model.
