This is just going by eyeballing it but it looks like the one on my 79 650 SR. I'm not sure how many possibilities there are when you are buying rebuild kits. Might be a good time to give Jeff at Z-1 Ent. a ring. I would say if anyone knows, he would.

Edit: One other thing makes me think it comes from an SR. On the 650 C1's that I have the rear master is painted black where on the SR it is just bare aluminium like the one you have.

I disassembled the MC last night and it does have a 14mm piston/bore. As I looked at the pieces, confused on how to put them back together after cleaning, :S I realized that I have a 650 manual. I checked out the manual for a '78 SR and all of the MC specs matched. I measured everything and it was all within tolerance. All of the rubber is soft so I don't think I need a rebuild after all. I really needed to know what it was from for sure anyway, so thanks for all of the help.

I'm about 99% sure that it's from a 78 SR. It may well have been available on other models too. I bought it as a KZ1000 MC, but I was only concerned with the 14mm markings and the mounting hole location (I needed a smaller master cylinder than my 5/8" for a custom project). I think it will work beautifully for what I need and bolts right up! I also thought that it may have come on an LTD or Z1-R or some other model, but I don't think it ever did come on a 1000.

OK, here's a general master cylinder question:

If it's leaking slightly from the bottom (where the push rod enters), what part is the culprit? The primary cup (8) or piston (9)?? Everthing is working great but a drop appeared over night. Will it possibly seal as the rubber parts swell?

Rebuild kits are not available for these and pistons are $50 each if you can find them.:pinch:
