The 81 650 CSR I picked up had at some point been fitted with a 150 mph speedo (in place of the 85 mph stock unit). My question is this:
If I replace the speedo cable (which happened to be missing when I got the bike) will the 150 mph speedo fitted read accurately off the stock speedo pick up? Are the pick ups the same between the 140 mph units on the older kz650 models and the later 85 mph units and the gauges are geared differently? Or, do I need to find a pick up that matches a higher reading speedo? Does anyone know for sure? (I guess I can always hook up a cable and when it's running see if it reads accurate or not, but I kind of wanted to know ahead of time). Thanks!
