Replied by kano on topic title companys use them? trust them?
thx duck
i dont think i can do it this way though.
ive owned bike for so long have receipt for frame
and donor bike was registered to me but i am unable to get signed affidavit's from seller's of frame and bike.

so i am sitting here applying online to insurance
company's but so far no one has called me back.

my only other choice is to do what woman at dmv said i had to do.

go to a off island inspection site
provide as much proof of ownership
to state cop and he should give me a
salvage title.

this is my last resort and ive been told
he will remove old vin number and issue a
new one making bike worthless as the vin
number proves it is a genuine kz1000r.

can you buy insurance from progressive in MA?
I have three bikes with them in GA for $84/year, TOTAL
All they wanted was the VIN and model.
Kind of a pain to get them to send a binder but after some time on the phone, they will get you one.

well i spoke to my nascar buddy
he is heading off island in 2 weeks
and will put my bike in his truck
to go to police run salvage inspection site
and i will let them grind off my elr frame number
so i can get a new one.

i realy dont see any other way to get a title in this state (ma) and ive asked everyone i know in other states and you wont beleave the excuses i here as to why they cant do it for me.

i just need it on the road so i can get to this new job im starting and a lot is riding on it daughter will go into day care and i need to get out of my in law's house before i say or do something ill regret.

wife and i arnt talking and every time i say things are screwed up here the ole line "well piss off back to england comes up" gotta love that.

if anyone has a clue how i can get a title plz let me know.

insurance company wont insure me in mass as i dont have a title.

dmv wont issue a title and reg in mass with out insurance.

and wife wont put out till im working(no loss there).

its a shame my eddie has to be defaced and made worthless just to plz the dmv by state cops so i can get a title.

That will teach you to live on an island, particularly in Massachusetts! Move to NH. You just need a cop or dealer to fill out a little form with the VIN, then go to your friendly (really!) town clerk to get it registered. Costs about $35. No title needed for older bikes. No insurance needed either. Live Free or Die, ya know.
Seriously, if you did that, with a valid registration and a bill of sale, maybe you could transfer it to a Mass. registration? Don't know about the title part.
I don't think a cop would keep your bike, even in Massachusetts.....

Good luck!:)

well it's hard.
what is?
containing my excitement thats what.
the wife just called she has been doing some phoning around trying to find out what's what as she knows i am less than enthusiastic about taking my bike off island for the salvage inspection.

and im at my wits end as no insurance company was helpful and to be honest i think my cockney accent is more than they can handle lol.

anyway she called asked if i was sitting down "yeh i am whats new i said" she had just got off the phone with plymouth rock, as she used to work in insureance and she has secured insurance on my bike they inturn called the island insurance company telling them to insure my bike so i can send off forms to the title company to get title and plates. i passed my learners permit test last week so i should fingers crossed be good to go.

plus the guy who is gonna hire me at the end of the week in his bike shop is going to let me use his trade plate for his bike shop so i wont miss starting work. i havnt ridden this bike since 94 on the road so i am syked to say the least thought id let you guys know lol.

That's really great news there Kano, all the way around!

I'm glad you didn't have to register your bike as a salvage title. And since you'll be employed again soon, perhaps your wife will be "hospitable" in private again soon too. ;)
