not charging / fuse #3 blows
13 May 2023 09:00
New:
Battery, Stator, Regulator/Rectifier
still wont take a charge…
wondering about this… I don’t know for sure where these wires should go. I believe it was hooked up to the positive before, and the green wire was just dangling.

I dont know what the relay is for...
I was told to (from the regulator) run the red to the positive on the battery and the black to the negative on the battery... but i didnt listen..
If I do follow this advise how do I account for the other two wires that the red and black are currently connected to? will I need to connect those to the battery as well?

This guide may help. Sometimes the factory wiring gets overheated and damaged. Bypassing that can help get the charging system working properly.

thanks Nessism,
Do you think i need to worry about the relay wiring? Not sure the black and white wires should be going to the positive or negative terminal...? also I wonder if the green should be grounded somewhere...

13 May 2023 12:23I would suggest that if you don't know what the relay is for "Don't" connect it to anything until you know where the wires are going and what it's purpose is (it may have been for one of the many "cop" extras the bike had)thanks Nessism,

Is the relay a Wired George mod that was done by a PO?
I have several restored bikes along with a 2006 Goldwing with a sidecar. My wife has a 2019 Suzuki DR 650 for on and off road.

i have no idea,… thats what makes this so fun.
i believe the wiring has been subdimodified and based on the carelessness of wire routing and random lengths used im not sure i have a tremendous amount of faith in the prior artist.

OK, here I go.
From the rectifier:
Three yellows … easy.
Back… I will run to the ground terminal on the battery.
Red I will split and run one to the fuse box and one to the battery.

well, I’ve been at it for about three minutes. And I’ve already had my first mistake.
Correction
Red…I will split
and run one to the fuse box / from the fuse box to the battery.
the other to the main harness
