daveo - thank you so much, bro!  ...80 gritted the eye conn and mating surfaces for yel/blk ground on coil mount and solved my jumpy tach
wookie - yes i read how to check by spinning front wheel to gain volt reading from odom to speedo and that seems to check out good

wookie - speed sensor is sending pulse starting out at just below 1 volt and voltage raises fine when wheel is spun. i'm stumped unless odometer isn't sending pulse to to speedometer

The below should give us a starting point, let me know what you get for each of the 5 test steps   Is your bike fitted with "self cancelling" turn signals, if yes "do they work"?

i guess i've never known of any easy way to get these old 6 pin connectors in headlamp apart, any tips?
few of the conn's seemed to be like welded as one on one or two sides, pulling does not suffice

Don't forget these tests are done from the back of the plug with it connected

anyone know of a better way to un-weld the original connectors inside headlamp.
the one i'm pulling on doesn't allow much room on one side to pull from
i do understand the tests to be done connected but still wanna get the two apart

You could try soaking them in WD40 (it's corrosion that's holding them) JUST MAKE SURE YOU BLOW OUT THE EXCESS BEFORE PUTTING POWER THROUGH IT

Hey wookie! Sorry bro, I know you'd spent a bit of time helping with this, however, I didn't even get a chance to do any testing yet. My other half seems to always somehow gets in the way with her priorities when its sunny, 70 deg and I'm fiending to go riding LOL

The jumpy tach has been solved, the ground blk/yel from 6 pin connector under side cover wasn't connected to anything.
