1975 kz400 S (kick only) bare bones wiring needed ASAP
07 Oct 2022 08:14
I bought a 1975 KZ 400s kick only. It was running good last year did a couple things to it and then took it all apart to make it into hardtail. During that time I was in a major accident and have major memory loss and also everything to do with the bike paperwork and notes wise and some parts are all gone! Right now I'm just trying to get it finished up to get it just to run to get it from point A to point B because it needs to get out of where it is nowWhat I have for it and to complete:
* 3 wire headlight* 3 prong aftermarket brass ignition switch,
* toggle switch
* 8 wire Rick's Reg/Rec combo (instructions that came with that only said to take two plugs and plug it into each one on motorcycle, all of which everything was hardwired before as well) and that's all I want to do now anyway
* 6 slot fuse box (with 7 positive and 7 negative posts)
*Dynatek S Ignition System
(which was on bike when I purchased it and it ran good, I left it on motor with the coils and did not touch them ,those two were wired together and had one single yellow wire coming out that was wired to the aftermarket ignition that I disconnected last year that's the only thing I remember.)
** It has no blinkers, no brake light, no speedo, no starter which is fine because I just need to get it going to get it to my other place

Well, really all you need is a wire from battery positive going to a fuse(fuse size depends on wire thickness).
Make sure the fuse is as close to the positive battery terminal as possible.
That wire goes to your kill switch....then from the kill switch to the coils.
Join another wire to that coil wire and run it to one of your headlight wires that isn't the ground wire at the headlight.
Take your pick. One wire is high beam and one is low beam.
Make sure the kill switch is wired correctly and works
Negative battery cable to frame.
I bypassed the key switch so don't forget to disconnect your wire or someone will take off with it as it doesn't require a key.
Your on/off switch will be the kill switch
Not sure if your reg/rec is connected.
If it isn't find out what model the reg/rec is and include it below.
