Battery question.

Start the bike.  Check DC voltage across the battery and rev the engine up to 5000 rpm.  If the charging system is healthy, you should get about 13.9-14.5 VDC.  If less than 13.7 V, you have a serious charging system problem.  If more than 15 V, your regulator has failed, or is about too.

I can't get the bike running without roll starting it though. That's the problem. 

I think my issue is my starter. It will click but not turn the bike over. 

The starter solenoid clicks just a single time with the key on and pushing the start button. I don't hear the starter motor turning at all. Is there a relay or fuse that could be blown? I really hope I don't need to replace the starter. 

Try jumping the starter relay with the engine in neutral.  

A starter fault would not have caused it to stutter and lose power ( could be more than one thing going on or something effecting both) Connect your voltmeter as follows - black lead to battery ground and red lead to the body of your starter, now push the starter button. If the reading is any more than 0.3v you have a bad ground on the motor

take a photo of the front of your meter and we'll walk you through the troubleshooting.

So I took my starter out and hooked it straight to a battery and it did not spin. That is my issue. Now I have no clue where I'm going to find a starter for this bike. 

Check your manual on how to service the starter. It may be as simple as opening the top and blowing out crud and carbon dust. It may just require replacing brushes. Make sure you scribe a line between top and bottom before you remove the 2 long bolts and take the top cap off. Its not difficult.

I'm not sure I will ever get these bolts out. 

i'm curious as to why your bike sputtered and lost power while riding though.

how did you hook up the battery to the starter to test it?
