Firing order If you sit on your bike: Left Hand = coil #1/4 and Right Hand = coil #2/3. Cylinder #1 left Hand side.

Scirocco has you in the right direction for coil orientation and firing order. Now look at the marked up photo for Wiring. When I say black I mean the color band on the wire. Example; white wire black color band

The red can be spliced to the yellow/red. It can even be connected right at the coil terminal, it needs to be switched 12v power

Your yellow coil will gets a yellow/red (looks like it already connected correctly) and the other terminal of the yellow coil will connect to the green banded wire from the ignition pickup

As Mikaw mentioned, that is a Dyna S ignition. It's a DS2-2 model. The one you have is an older version and there were a few different versions, with slightly different wire colors... nothing major, but it makes a difference if you ever have to replace a Dyna S module.

The same Dyna S unit is used on all smaller inline-four Kz's. Those bikes have the 1-4 coil on the right side as you sit on the bike, and the 2-3 coil on the left side as you sit on the bike. (This is opposite of the larger inline-four Kz's.)

As Mikaw said, you can splice into the yellow/red wire to get your switched 12 volt source.

Here is the wiring for the older version Dyna S (They can be identified by the c-shaped modules being taller than the new ones.)
There were two very slightly different wiring details at the actual modules themselves, which is only important in case you need to replace one.

This I what I enjoy about this site. The knowledge base here is unsurpassed. To know the age or version of an aftermarket part by sight can only be by experience.

Thank you loudhvx!

Can I challenge you a bit? I think you attached two examples of the same version. Both are identified as “old”

Absolutely.
Yes, they are both old versions. The difference is where the red wires attach to the modules.
There are also two versions of the "new" versions. The new versions have the blue sticker. I attached a photo of the new version where you might be able to see that the modules are flatter with a tower sticking up.

I made a graphic that shows all of the versions including the larger Kz versions... to better highlight the wire color differences.
I'm not sure if there is a way to pause it.

Thanks to everyone for the help.
I believe have the wires to the coils hooked up right now.
Looking for a new set of coils since i have one accel and one emgo coil.
So they match and both have the same ohms.
Thinking about the dyna green coils and a new set of plug wires.
Or maybe a complete new set of accel coils and wires.
Any suggestions to brand of coils from your experiences.

Still going through some of the wires on the harness looking for any bad spots, connections or bare wires.
Found a connector with three wire that isnt plugged into anything and cant see what or if it goes to anything.

Also looking for a manual i have seen the haynes and the clymer manuals.
Seen the factory service manual on ebay for around $35
And a downloadable fsm for $15
Just want whatever has the best help and info.

I’d go for the factory service manual (FSM).

If they ohm out the same but that on your wish list. Get it up and running, but before you take it out of the back yard do all factory recommend services. Consider it as mileage unknown and go through it from front to back. Safety first. Fun later.

I use, and have never had a problem with, the 3-ohm Accel Supercoils. I prefer the plug-wire attaching method which are posts that resemble the end of a plug, so the ends are the same as the ends connected to the plugs. I only have to stock one type of connector.

But the 3-ohm, green Dyna coils are probably more commonly used, and are probably a bit more affordable.

The bolt spacing on the Kz650 coil mounts are slightly different from the spacing on the Accels, so maybe the Dyna coils have a chance of fitting better.

I suspect both brands are about equally reliable and perform very similarly, electrically.

Had these on my bike for 30+ years. Don’t know anything about them. I have tried to search on them without success. They might have been a custom batch made for the speed shop I bought the Dyna S from.
