I have a couple of stripped screws and some that are seized, as well as fairly pitted points. My 2,3 points slip and close the gap every 500kms or so and one of the screws turns freely. In looking for parts, I find that quite a few are no longer available. I did find and entire breaker plate with all of the parts, including the plates, points and condensers. I've ordered the whole plate (part 3 here: www.partzilla.com/catalog/kawasaki/motor...r-rectifier-77-78-a1 ) Should it just be a case of lining up the timing cam, removing the 3 screws, lock washers and washers at 12 o'clock, 4 o'clock and 8 o'clock, undoing the condenser wires and sliding the whole plate off, then sliding the new one on? I realize I'll have to gap the points and set the timing, but are there any hidden issues I should be aware of?
TIA Scott

Do you think about to upgrade to an electronic ignition?

If you're replacing the whole thing you may not need to touch anything other than the three screws. FYI, when you order from Partzilla you are getting OEM parts. I believe they simply order from Kawasaki and when they get the parts they send them to you.
I have several restored bikes along with a 2006 Goldwing with a sidecar. My wife has a 2019 Suzuki DR 650 for on and off road.

I actually ordered directly from the Kawasaki dealer in Cranbrook. By the time shipping and exchange are factored in, it's almost the same price. I linked to Partzilla just for the diagram.

No, I'd rather keep it stock, if possible. It also gives me something to fiddle with. After 50 or so years of riding, I just bought my first timing light!:)

I just looked up the Kawasaki retail price for a O.E.M. breaker plate. WOW!!! Its way over 100 dollars!!!!!!!

How much is a Dyna S going for now????

For a few more bucks, I would DEFINITELY buy the Dyna S instead!!!!

If you Need the entire contact plate.
You can get my old stock for 16 Euro shipping only.
But a electronic ignition would be a Progress at all. You dicide by PM me.

Thanks. I really appreciate the offer, but I ordered and paid for it last week and will pick it up from the dealership tomorrow, I hope.
