Which Spark Plug To Use

19 Apr 2019 21:20 - 20 Apr 2019 06:31
#802451
I have been running Accel 142 U-Groove spark plugs for a good while now. I believe they are NON-Resistor plugs...

Will NGK Platinum BR8EVX work properly with NGK resistor caps?

Wires are copper-core Dynatek < 3 ohm Mini-Coils < 2000 ignition.

Just pulled the plugs out and took the picture below.
Need advisement how to enhance combustion by changing the spark plug gap?

Thanks in advance.

Either plug , Or wire / cap can be resistor .
Not Both
Is my understanding

I'll run them and report back with my findings. :cheer:

Some KZ bikes specify resistor plugs in certain markets, Europe for example, while in the US the spec is non resistor. I'm not sure what this is all about but I take it to mean that using a resistor plug won't hurt anything.

I ran exotic plugs when I was fouling them due to bad valve guide seals. Since then I've been running standard B8ES plugs and mine look like that. I think it's a combination of rings, seals, lower compression and bigger non stock carbs. They say you'll never be able to get the bike to idle as low as you can with the stock carbs and I'm beginning to agree with them. Even with new rings and seals I suspect that will be as good as it gets.
For now I'll just ride the piss out of it and enjoy.

BTW, unless you are using a AM radio, resister plugs or wires aren't needed.

Have always read never to run both resister caps and plugs together too. Since you are always trying to get your bike to be running as best as it can I wouldn't...... I've also read that you can increase gap to around .037 up from the stock .028-.032 if you have high output coils and pick up a "tiny bit of power" but some on here didn't like that idea so I stuck with .032 as a compromise. I've always run solid core wires and non res plugs but then again have read having one or the other resistor doesn't hurt performance. Where's Jay or some other expert when you really need there advice.:woohoo:

Resistors (wires, caps or plugs) in series with the HV circuit(s) is predominantly for RF noise suppression.

An added benefit is reduction in spark current (amperage) which significantly reduces electrode erosion.
