P.S. Where are you from Twis? American bike will be different to European in that the European bikes have on/off headlights and Americans just have on ( off cost extra from what I understand!!)

It's been law to have daytime running lights in Canada for generations. The North American bikes were all designed the same (no off switch) so they could be sold in either market without modifications.

Not true on the earlier KZ models. My 1977 KZ650-C1 and other 1977 and earlier bikes came with the ON/OFF headlight switch (see image below). Ed

In Canada the first year with headlight on was 1975. I think the early bikes still had the On/Off switch...see photo #1 of an Aug/74 build date for a Z1B. Later ones had the switch area blanked out and the On/Po/Off letters left unpainted as in photo #2. That one is a Jan/75 build date.
I have several restored bikes along with a 2006 Goldwing with a sidecar. My wife has a 2019 Suzuki DR 650 for on and off road.

Right you are. The '78 in this thread from Arizona www.kzrider.com/forum/23-for-sale/610485...78-kz1000-z1r#802389 has the on/off switch, but my '77 from BC does not.
