How to wire aftermarket speedometer tachometer.
21 Dec 2018 21:04
Y’all have been so helpful this past year. Omw y’all are awesome. I bought an aftermarket speedometer tachometer. It has its wiring labeled but I’m not positive how the original connectors connect to it. I could probably take way to long to figure it out but y’all seem to know what y’all are doing. So here’s the photo
Also not sure what GR-1 means.
Thanks!

The only information I have in it to this link. The photos I took in the last post is the supposed wiring diagram. I’m cust curious to know which wire goes where.

What crap translation/instructions, is that all you got
It looks like the gauge has a lcd display that tells you what gear the bike is in, so i imagine the 6 and 2 pin plugs are the gear position inputs.
So what ever wire gets a negative signal the corresponding gear is supposed to be displayed .
As our bikes only have a wire for neutral its the only one you can hook up.
Cant help with the door lock? but all the others look straight forward
good luck

The biggest problem is how to calbrate the Speedo without any speed sensor setup instructions/ Input push bottons.
You have to Input the wheel size/scope, number of speed sensor magnets/impulses per wheel turn to get correct speed values!!!
Buy cheap buy twice.

Since they're all negative connections, the GR stuff probably means ground. guessing. I would search youtube to see if there's a video of how to wire that one. I did a quick search & found some how-tos for some different cheap chinese meters.
Edit: found this video. appears to be the same as yours. there are other videos for it.

No offense, but I agree with the guys above. $27.00 for a speedo/tach, for me, is way too cheap, and the fact that the instructions are not easy to follow, amplifies this. I see it does have a 30 day buyer return, you just have to pay for return shipping.
You also do not need a speedometer, as you can figure out how fast you are going at a certain rpm, as long as the tach is accurate. Lou has marks on his tach for this I believe?
I was planning on using that same Koso Gauge that Scirocco mentioned, but it didn't pan out. Check their line up of gauges:

Edit:
There are speedometers that use GPS, to see how fast you are going. Check this:
legendary-motorcycles.com/newmiscparts.html
This one looks similar to the Legendary Motorcycle GPS Unit, and has an 8k or 12k tach option.

What's so confusing? Simple.
Connect the door lock wire to the door lock. Every bike tach connects to the doors.

Again, any help would be appreciated.
Here is a little bit of information. It’s not exactly the same. But here it is.

I just wired this up last week, wasn’t the easiest thing to do but nothing you can’t handle. I cut my old kz gauge wiring harness so it’s just plug and play now. I do still need to set up the speedo magnet but I can’t test it until the spring so that can wait. When I get home I can send you a diagram for the wiring.
