dyna ds2-2 Versus ds2-1

Wondering if I can use the Dyan 2000 system from my KZ1000 on my KZ650. References indicate DS2-1 for the KZ1000 and DS2-2 for the KZ650... Tomorrow I may have an answer to this since I will try to mount the DS2-1 on the KZ650. Fire may follow.

Im ordering the basic Dyna S for the KZ650 but I have a brand new Dyna 2000 sitting waiting for the KZ1000... KZ650 runs, KZ1000 is completely dissasseblmed.

Shouldn't be an issue as the only difference will be in the mounting plate and maybe the position of the trigger in the rotor.
The actual dyna system should work on any 4cyl once you have the mounting and trigger in the correct locations.

If you are trying to mount a timing plate designed for a Kz1000 motor onto a Kz650, it won't fit without major modification. (cutting, grinding, drilling). In that case, you have to be careful around the timing window. As you can see on this overlay, the Kz1000 timing window will be very close to, if not overlapping, where you need the top mounting slot for the Kz650.

If you somehow have a timing plate that fits the Kz650 in order to control a Dyna 2000, that shouldn't be a problem.

I'd wait and get a Dyna S for the 650. It comes with the oil pressure wire built in.

This is what I expected. I’ll wait for the dyna S. Got some running issues on new to me bike so I’m just gonna start at the valves, timing and clean the carbs well

If your Kz650 is a 78 or 79, keep an eye on the battery voltage when you run the Dyna S. Some 78 and 79 Kz650's have had some charging issues related to eh Dyna S. Most work fine, though.
