Need suggestions for a starter motor 81 KZ650

alright so this didnt exactly fix my issue but can deffinetly see a differance. now when i hit the starter button, the battery drops to about 10.5v which before it was only 9.5v. buuut i still only have about 9.6v to the ic ignitor. i checked the voltage at the start and kill switch unit and with the battery at about 12.2v i was only getting 11.7v which shows me there is resistance in that unit. guessing thats where the remaining voltage drop to the ic ignitior is coming from. are these cleanable? or is there replacements out there?

Have you checked the rotor/commutator/stator body for shortcuts???

If the bushings/bearings are too worn/ big, it will bind.

i did notice that even after cleaning and greasing etc. there is a " quack" as it comes to a stop. i think im about to just take the bike in. as much as i enjoy figuring this out, i dont know what they are supposed to look like and stuff.

I took three used ones and made one good one.

i wish i could find 3 used ones for cheap. everyone wants at least 50+ a piece lol about to check my armature

so since my starter motor had a quack still i took it apart again and realized i havent greased one of the bushings. this bushing is on the plate pictured above to the gear that goes to the planets. it was super filthy so i cleaned it up, along with the others i greased beforehand and greased them all again, cleaned the commutator very lightly with 2000 grit wet dry sand paper as i dont have emmory cloth. reassembled and i can spin it and it will spin a half turn or more freely after i let go from turning it. about to give it a shot again will see what happens! p.s. the grease im using is the grease we use on aircraft wheelbearings so id imagine itd be able to withstand a starter motor lol
