1980 KZ750 LTD H1 - front signal light problem

I've got a funny problem with my front signal lights, they come on fine but they don't flash. I changed both flashers out but I still have the same problem.

Any ideas?

thanks for your time.

Would check your flasher relay there should be two of them. One is for hazard lights and the other handles the turn signal blinking. If not the flasher relay would clean all terminals and clean up the ground wires on each of the rear turn signal lights they can cause that as well.

If the battery charge is low they will do that.

Also some years have 3 wires - dedicated ground, others 2 wires - the light must be rubber insulated the appropriate grommets. When I did not use the grommet with a two wire light the flash would not operate, but the light would. My 0.02$ R

Digital flasher units tolerate low voltage better. But this ain't your problem.

I would firstly check your black/yellow ground earths on all of them, it is common fault. Get a jumper wire and go black/yellow to a good ground on the frame or engine.

If in doubt add an extra ground back and front. i do on all my bikes. The black/yellow ground is all conected in the wiring loom with crimps below the wrapping, to one central ground - the battery -ve.

Over the years these can deteriorate and unless you hack the main loom apart it is difficult to rectify, so I just add a couple of extras.

This exact problem mainfests itself in two wire winkers as in one staying on all the time. You see it on rusty old vans all the time -the rear loom ground is defective so the back lights 'ground' through the indicators and vice versa. Crazy and seemingly illogical things happen when electrons can't find their way home.
