Brown wire and white/black wires melting

Brown wire from ignition completely melted along with other wires and certain spots starting to melt

Does anybody have the 1988 kz1000p electrical diagram?

I am starting to think it would be better to turn it back to the police version but with other color lights besides blue and red

This bike was fine when I bought it but no issues until I replaced battery and I swear there was another ground to attach but searched the whole bike over and it wasn't there

Can somebody tell me what's happening?

Very interested in this as Ive just replaced the old fusebox with a blade type on my CSR . The Black/white wire feeds 3 wires in the fusebox. the Brown,Blue and Red/White. All the fuses are 10amp though the black/white wire has a thicker diameter than the other 3 colours. Not sure why this is or if its important.

I'm still working on this diagram, colorizing it. Here's what I have so far.

Open it in a new tab to see it full size. It's big.

It's an "oversize" Gif based image.

Am thinking that KZr automatically reduces the size of an image that's posted which exceeds 2400 x 1200.

I don't know how KZr's automatic resizing selects the dimensions for the down-sized image.

I usually use JPEG images when posting.
And if it's a Gif or other type image, I often convert it to a JPEG before posting.

Good Fortune! :)

Ill tell you now that KZr doesnt resize anything. My camera used to produce photos within the 2400 limit (thats why I posted so many photos on my build thread). Now,for some reason my camera produces bigger photos, which is a pain in the arse. If I write a post and include photos 'au natural' from my camera, nothing loads. I have to copy and resize everything ( why I dont post so many photos anymore!).
No idea what happened, maybe the kids playing with the camera or maybe I had a few too many and did something myself.
No,actually it was the kids. Definately the kids ! It was their fault!!!

My original file, which was a Gif, and successfully uploaded to KZR was 2675 x 1982. If you download the KZR hosted version, it is 2400 x 1778.
In order to not hijack this thread, I'm posting image related issues on this thread.

In that thread you can see the results of the KZR re-sizing a gif.

With or without a wiring diagram, if your ignition switch loom (and possibly the main loom) has got hot enough to burn through like that then you have a live wire that is not protected by a fuse - otherwise the fuse would have blown first.

From memory, if you have a 7 way late z1000 fusebox, the battery + goes through a main 30 A fuse to the switch, then goes back to fusebox where it goes through smaller 10A fuses to final circuits.

The ignition switch can be replaced without the lock, but you need to trace the problem first. Get a meter, wiring diagram and trace it from the battery. Your P might have some other accessories wired to it, maybe even through an extra fusebox -not sure sorry.

I'd also check the main ground to the battery. I had a bad connection and when I pushed the start button, the wires started to smoke. Lucky I caught it in time.

Good call Steve. I was re-thinking along the same lines here...just can't quantify it without further details,.
