These old bikes need constant attention just to keep them operational, and much more to maintain their maximum capacity and tune.
Its a sad, cold-hard reality that many bike dealerships will not (won't and don't) work on our old gems anymore.
Gone are the good old days when many of our bikes were young, and spark plug choices were limited...way-back when corn was used for what it was made.

I was a die-hard NGK B8ES (BR8ES) abuser once, until the ACCEL U-Groove 142 took over. Now its NGK BR8EVX (BR8EIX) :)

So, what will it be next? :S

I think the BR8EVX are/were essentially BR8EIX Iridium plugs. Maybe someone important liked black rings on the ceramic part of the plugs more than blue ones, and production of blue ones ended.
Awesome Ebay deals still come around occasionally. :)

Any real advantage in using these over standard B8ES plugs? .... I've pulled mine out, grit blasted them, slightly file the elements sq again, clean the bejezus out of them, gap and reinstall.
Maybe have 7K to 8K miles on these four now.

Better starting, idle, and less detonation pings are a couple supposed benefits that I have noticed. :)

The only advantage of Iridium is the material lasts longer when subject to sparking so you get longer service intervals. A spark is a spark is a spark.

I guess every bike is a bit different. I originally used NGK spark plugs, but found that they didn't last long (maybe 2,000 miles or so) before they had fouled and needed to be cleaned or had other problems. I switched to ND W22ES-U plugs and the problems disappeared. I now change plugs about every 14,000 miles not because they have problems; simply because I think it should be done. Ed

I use the ND W22ES-U spark plugs & the only reason is because I got a case of NOS on eebbaayy for cheap. less than 50 cents per spark plug.
