1983 Kawasaki Kz750 turn signal problem
31 Jul 2016 23:01
Hi guys, so I have a problem with the signal lights on my kz750 spectre. When I turn the signal light switch on either direction my lights don't flash they just stay on. I'm fairly new with working on bikes so any help will be much appreciated! Thanks

Did you replace a bulb prior to the problem? New bulbs may not work right with the old turn signal flasher. The fix is to get an electronic unit from the auto parts store which should have one that looks about the same as the stock unit & will fit in the same spot. Also, your bike may have a turn signal operating device, but I don't know anything about how to check that.
Here's a flasher from autozone. Made in USA.
Novita Turn Signal Flasher. Tridon® EL12. Electro-mechanical flasher. OEM #D1FZ 13350 A
Also, for the hazard lights. they also make a loud hazard switch.
Novita Hazard Warning Flasher. Tridon® LL552®. Made in USA.

Your 1983 750 Spectre uses the same stock turn signal flasher as my KZ650-C1. You can eliminate the problem of the signals not flashing by replacing the stock flasher with a Tridon/Stant 552 2 prong electronic flasher. This unit is a perfect fit in the original rubber flasher holder, and it makes the signals flash at the same rate even if the battery charge is a little low. Most auto stores carry them, and they are very inexpensive. The problem with the stock flashers is that not only does the battery needs to be fully charged for them to flash, but as the flashers age they require even more than a fully charged battery to operate properly.
