Plug wires and spark plug dilemma (750 4cly)

i think i got 1 bad spark plug.... i narrowed it down by switching it around and touching the plug on the case and turning it over.
went to town bought the stock BR8ES like it calls for......
well got home and the plugs that are in it got BR9ES threaded end type plug.
Looks like all the boots call for a threaded end
The BR8ES i got were a solid post.
What do i do??? do i continue running a threaded post br9es? or switch to a threaded post br8es if there is such a thing?

B9's are colder, which you don't want either.
Get some proper plugs.

im guessing my caps are fine sence swapping the plugs around showed that it was the plugs acting up. not the boots or coils.swest wrote: I bought four B8Es plugs last year. One had a solid post. I returned it and got a new one. You might have bad plug caps. The dealers or dirt bike shops should have them. Pics of old plugs?

That's because you're in Canada (see images below). Personally, I wouldn't use resistor plugs, but it's up to you. Ed

I agree.... and i live in Canada. B8ES. Much better. Most plug caps have enough of a resistor in them without adding more in the plug.

but im not useing stock plug caps theyve been changed 2 are ngk and 2 are some other brand,,, would those have a resistor in them? Alot of ppl up here in Canada use snowmobile caps and plugs as they are easier to find and way cheaper... im kinda thinking thats what someone has done as every plug is a threaded tip not solid. I had to buy plugs that the tip threads off and chuck em.
anyhow no one stocks a br8es with threaded ends
so just for emergency use i threw a set of br9es threaded ends in to see how it ran. Well looks like the left pipe has alot of smoke so im going to have to look at the top of the engine for sure.... its probably coming out. I got another full top end i can swap over if i need. thx guys for your help.
Once the top end is finished up I might put a set of br8es or b8es depending on what i find out about these aftermarket caps and if they have a good resistor. thanks again

my first guess was to do a compression test and see if its serious. If it has good compression all around... I would assume seals like you say. But if its lower compression in those 2 cly would it be hopefully just valve adjusment? It doesnt run as smooth as my 81 so im thinking somethings off somewere. It does seem to have the hard to idle bug... unless its just too much oil for proper combustion.swest wrote: Valve guide seals.
