Should be plug and play. It has the same H4 configuration so all he has to do is plug it in. Seems toe there is something else going on. Have you used a multimeter to verify correct voltage at the H4 connector?

I have not, I have just been using the stock unit functioning as my "everything works" check. What should my voltage reading be at the plug?

Reply to myself... At the connector I am getting 12v constant and switched im getting 8v low beam and 12v high beam.

I think you have answered your own question. You could check with the bike running and see if it increases.
