Lower profile switches for 82 GPz750? was created by GPzMOD750
I just recently converted my GPz to drag bars using a KZ700 triple clamp. I really like the results, however, the switch gear hangs down just a little too much and hits the tank before the steering locks. It's not much but enough. I have already put a dent in the right side of my tank.

If you look for replacements there's really no info on how much the unit hangs below the bars. The stock ones really do seem to hang unnecessarily low so I know there's got to be something I can use. I'd prefer they be from another Kawasaki model or at least not an aftermarket part. I've kinda made this build about repurposing used parts and trying to keep it in the family. I'd also like to keep hacking things up to a minimum and be reversible. Anyone have any suggestions?

I use switches from these folks. These are cheaper than the OEM parts and they are very high quality.

I have used the left hand switch 12-0030-200 for over 10 years. It is available with a wire extension so it is easy to set up to install in any bike. If the plug is still good on your GPZ you may need to use it with the new switch.
I will be using the right hand switch 12-0203-125 on my 750 twin project.

Good Luck
Jon

Thank you,

I was hoping maybe something off another model, earlier or later even might work. I have come to realize that some options like those you've shared will also require a separate throttle assy.

I need to plan a trip to the local bike salvage as well and see what they might have.

Iv'e been surfing around looking some of the smaller Ninja EX250/EX500 switch gear. The left looks like it might be usable, The left is hard to tell by just looking at the pics. I might be able to reroute the wiring through the choke cable hole and relieve the bottom a bit....

If you are changing steering head bearings any time soon you can add material to either the frame or the lower triple clamp to change the steering stops. I think the lower triple is steel so it is easy to tig or mig weld to add material. You can fine tune the final stopping point with a file.

I went and ordered some switch gear and a throttle assy that should clear. The right side has an additional light switch so i ordered some LED road lights as well.
