Setting timing and advancer.

This is one area i just havnt messed with since I got the bike and wouldnt you know it the F mark was ahead of the timing mark buy a fair bit and when I brought it up 3500 rpms it was not reaching the advance marks.
So I took the advancer apart and Im glad i did as it was dry . I cleaned it up and gave it some grease.
Also on my bike the timing plate had no adjustments. A friend told me this was due to the emissions stuff going on in the 79-80.
So I slotted the holes a little bit. Here is the results.
I was able to get it dead on the mark at 1000 rpms and at 3500rpms it just touches the advance line.
What surprises me is the tone of the bike .It runs much smoother and the tone is deeper.
I took it out for a spin and I defiantly can tell the difference .
thank you guys for bring this up ..and for all yall having issues ..check that advancer and timing.
I edited this to say I couldnt get the two advance marks to fully line up. Im not sure what to do to get them there.
But it runs very good and pulls like a beast. Im wondering if since i greased it that it may need to be run a little bit and rechecked.. any thoughts?

I need some help here.
If im thinking right then it was advanced at ide due to spring pressure being wrong then the advancer may have been starting to work early.
so by retarding the timing to get the f mark correct then my advancer runs out of advance ability at higher rpms thus the lines dont line up.
so if im thinking right can i tighten the loops on the springs a little ?
what i felt wit the unit cleaned and greased in my hands was just a smidge of play in the rotor. maybe i can take that slack out with the springs? or am i chasing my tail?

Too bad that CHINESE camera died on me the next day. I liked it.
Before I switched the parts the idle wouldn't stay put.
When you make a change it's best to put a few miles on it before you do anything else.

No need to delete.
But shows what is out in the world and the problem with ignition advancer's!
Half of these cycles on here need a new advance unit. Some Business is missing out by not producing weight springs for the older Kawasaki's. Chevrolet points ignition springs are close, a little stiff. I don't have a running engine to do research.

But the only option I found so far are a couple of NOS advancers on ebay for wayyyy to much money.
I think ill take Steve's advise and run it a little bit . I may be closer than I think.
The funny thing (to me) is i took the time to slot the plate so I could adjust the timing and after cleaning and greasing the advancer I think im right where it would have been before I slotted.
My question to you guys who know is ..are my springs weak like im thinking?

My bike only has 20,000 miles on it and the advancer looks great except i think someone may have diddled with those springs before.
I can tell the coils do not look even .

I was ready to buy a new one but called to make sure. He reluctantly told me they were obsolete. They would've taken my money and who knows when I'd get it back?
