Bike horn vs. car horn? was created by car5car
Do bike horns have twice less power? If this is so, I need to install car horn.
Maybe mine is half dead.

Would check out aftermarket motorcycle horns such as those offered by Fiamm, etc., and the various subcategories of electronic and air-powered models. Just Google Fiamm horns.

I suspect at least some 12 volt automotive style horns may require using a relay instead of being directly connected to the bike's stock brown wire that attaches to the anemic stock horn. The relay would be to allow direct current from the battery positive terminal to the horn and preserving normal function of the horn button by re-routing the stock Brown horn wire from the horn to the relay.

Some motorcycle horns have a screw adjustment that can be used to achieve the horn's inherent maximum volume (which may still be considered as pretty lame :( ).

Good Fortune! :)

Using a relay, I installed a FIAMM 72112 Freeway Blaster Horn (Low Tone - F) horn in addition to the stock horn. The result is a MUCH louder horn. I mounted it up in the frame just behind the steering neck - it's invisible. I got it from Amazon. Ed

Back in the day, an old friend of mine was the local VW guru (classics of course). He also had a love for BMW aircooled motorcycles. His favorite thing to do was mount an old 6 volt VW horn on his bike. Because when he ran 12 volts through it, WOW..

I have two horns. High and low with a relay. The ground button can't handle two. The ground wire goes to the horn, the button completes the ground. With the puny stock horn I didn't get as much attention. Now they think a car or truck is coming at them

When I go to junk yard, I'll get two car horns and relay. $2.99. It is expensive, but safety is important! :)
There was some bike with 2 horns under headlight. It makes sense, they shouldn't be hidden.

I like my horn being hidden - it's still as loud as a car horn. However, for those who don't mind a little bit of extra horn showing, may I offer the following setup which is a bit louder than mine. ;) Ed
