A FYI for KZ1100 w/ dyna coils
01 Nov 2015 14:04
Had a come and go low end miss on my 83 KZ1100 pretty much since I bought it this spring. Likely caused me to pull carbs 10 times. After pretty much giving up on getting carbs right. I had pulled gas tank off bike and noticed left side (sitting on bike) plug wire grommets had flat marks on them where they go into coils. it looked like something was rubbing on them. I was kinda surprised to find out that something was my gas tank. Both plug wires were arcing to gas tank causing a low end miss. Kinda weird gas tank is a factory tank, rubbers that support tank look new.
Wanted to share this so hopefully someone else don't have to go thru it.

On mine I found some thing gas line whose inside diameter matched the outside diameter of my plug wires and made sleeves to protect the plug wires where they run by things they could rub on. Just side slit the fuel line and "snap" it over the plug wire.

I have the Taylor wires and they still were arcing. It doesn't seem like there is a good way to route wires where they won't arc against gas tank.
