regulator prob

I have a 1980 kz1000 ltd with a vintage regulator and its not wrking its all damaged and i was wanting to put a newer regulator on and do away with the old wat i am asking how hard will it be or is it just a plug and go

Up at the top where it says FORUM.... put your cursor over it and a sub menu will drop down.
Now look for the SEARCH icon and click on it...

Anouther question when i have jumper cables on bike it runs good but when i take them off the bike slowly dies but my battery is brand new

I hope you are not connecting the jumper cables between your motorcycle and a vehicle that is running or a battery charger. Doing that can clobber your motorcycle's electrical system.

Yes. Update. easy under a $100 fix. Last street motorcycle I drove, I found a cheap Yamaha, newer one on ebay for $9.99. KZ1075 was running a Dyna S and it had a bright halogen headlight.

Yeah i do have a halo and yes i was jumping it should i just chargr batery and its a kick start so i tought the bike is suposed to start with the kick

You need a modern Reg/Rect. Easy to hook up if you're not afraid of wires.

I replaced my regulator and rectifier with this reg/rec unit. It was easy to install. My charging system
has been working fine since.
You can get one form Rick's electronics also via ebay.

Yeah i ordered one exactly like that can u send me a pic with it wited in on the bike if not i should be able to manage it it co.es in thursday never worked on a motorcycle before but i think i can manage it
