So I bout a complete kit. The switch that came with the kit has a 6 pin connector and the original has 4.
Bike is a 76 kz900A4...has someone adapt the 6 pin to the 4 pin.
If so how did you do it....
Thx

One size fits all. Take a paperclip and pry the little tangs so the connector slips out and put them in your block.

Ok but what about the two extra wires?
Do I cap them?

Make sure the new switch makes the connections you need.

On mine, I unsoldered the original wire set from the old switch and attached it to the new switch because my original had more wires in my harness than the new switch had.

Either the documents that came with the switch will indicate what each lead on it does, or you can test them with a VOM to see what each does when the key is on and when it is off. Then make sue just which ones you need and do the splice that is called for. If either of the 2 left over are hot with the key on then yes you need to either attache them to some load or cap them.

All my bikes have a block connector and a couple of loose bullet connectors for the ignition keyswitch.

If you look on the factory wiring diagram there is a truth table at the bottom which shows which circuits connect in which keyswitch position. The bold line linking the three boxes mean that is a connection.

This sort of thing:

Alright guys.....took me a while but found the old switch. Also study the electrical diagram for both the 76 900a4 and kz1000.
So all it is ...is that extra two wires on the 6 pin connector is to power the tail light and hazards when u have the switch on park.
And the old switch... those two wires are already in head light bucket.
So those two extra wires will be cap...not needed.
