78 kz400 c1 Headlight Assembly
06 Jul 2015 06:25
Ok This has me flustered! Went to replace my headlight bulb in this thing and It looks like you cant just replace the bulb..you have to replace the whole thing besides the outer hub thingy. Ive had other kz's that were not like this. The manual sais to just replace the bulb and there is absolutely no way. Im stumped. Is it supposed to be like this?

I'm not familiar with the KZ400 headlight. Did you get the correct headlight sealed beam unit?

I had the same problem with my 76 KZ400. I could not find a bulb to fit the headlight shell. I ended up going to an aftermarket shell with an H4 bulb. It is an Emgo unit and looks stock to the untrained eye.

Z1Enterprises.com has Emgo headlight buckets, but I'm not sure if they're the same type as in gpzguy's pic.
H4 lens unit set. appears similar to stock. pricy but others are listed. H4 Upgrade Universal 6-3/8 Inch .
I do not know if your bike can use a 60/55W H4 bulb. eebbaayy search = KZ400 headlight

Still listed by Kawasaki, so it could be getable at a dealer, too.

It depends on the charging system.
