Sealed beam conversion 82 550 was created by apbling
So, I was thinking I'd like to switch from the sealed beam headlight to a halogen bulb with the help of a conversion kit. Z1 has them, but they look out of stock for the time being. I did an ebay and amazon check and they are significantly more expensive. Anyone snag one of these 7" kits from a different website for a reasonable price?

OR - you mean o'reilly auto?

I did see the silverstar sealed beam headlamps - just thought it'd be nice to get this kit:
www.z1enterprises.com/ItemDetails.aspx?i...bulb&item=EM66-75806
and then have some options with different bulbs.

The Z1 seems to be the best price....

Here's the Halogen sealed beam lamp I use. It works very well, is very bright, and because the wattage is 35/60 the low beam never taxes the bike's electrical system even though it is bright. Ed

It probably is a sealed beam, but the diagrams for the 550-C3 show a halogen bulb.
The 80-81 had the sealed beam, so it's possible your 82 does as well.

A conversion option is to get the headlight from an 750-4 & probably whatever other models had a halogen bulb.
The stuff from an 82 750-Ltd was an easy direct swap onto my 81 650-CSR (Lens unit, dust cover & H4 bulb).
The lens was cloudy, so I cleaned it with denatured alcohol.

I have the Wagners in my 69 F 250. I borrowed one until I got a new one. When I got the 84 550, I stole it out of it and put in in my Z1. At least Bossie got something out of the deal.

I agree martin, the diagrams and dennis kirk etc say H4, but I'm almost 100% sure its sealed beam.
