There are two brass rivets holding the shaft assy on. I'm thinking of drilling out them and useing pop rivets to put it back on after I check out the bushing. Might be able to drive it out and make a new one. I have my old one to play with so why not?

Swest, I haven't checked the Z1R speedo carefully but there must be a small container in line with the needle shaft holding oil. The reason I know is that when I accidentally left my speedo on its side I had an oil stain on the face.

I know my FJ has a small container on the shaft with a nylon cap, when my speedo got erratic I used a needle with an oil from Toyota used on the thermo fan couplers and it worked till I replaced it with a GPS speedo.

First Permanent ride the Z1R since Dec1977 (220,000km) as of June 2015
Second permanent bike 1989 FJ1200 dyno'd 140RWH, great bike.
Third ride is now the Frankenstein 1981 GPZ1100B1, 1983 fully recon motor fitted LOVE THIS BIKE
Forth my work bike FJ1200 1989 (same type as FJ above)

The shaft does NOT come out from the bottom. It is held in by the swedge in the magnet. It goes together then is swedged. Don't try it.
