hello people; I'm new. K1 engine. How does it get the RPM's from the engine? My tack., speedo gauges have 4 blue wires coming from it that are gathered and connected to a single blue wire. It is electrical but I don't know how it picks up the RPM's?

Maybe if the year & model were supplied, someone could provide a wiring diagram?
The electronic speedometers I've seen get the signal from a speed sensor & the electro tachs get the signal from the ignition system --- typically from the black wire that provides the signal to the 1-4 ignition coil.

hello people; Sorry for not knowing more info. on what I have but I still have the engine that came from the harness and gauges. I bought that bike for parts years ago, thru out the frame (stupid move) stock airbox (stupid) and exhaust (stupid) . I have most of the rest but it was a beat bike and alot of things where dented and broke, The engine ID # is KZT00AE106032 and it's all black if that helps? IC igniter iggy and square valve cover not like a Z1 style.

hello people; I'm new and you Kaw heads are letting me down. I'm waiting for my head to come back and the wiring has to be done but I have to know about the gauge wiring. The engine I have the harness for has all that hoses that come of the valve cover. It has to be smog?

Being you have removed all the original wiring, you'll have to get a manual for what it once was and figure out where things went and where they go now. When someone brought a hacked up bike to my shop, I sent them home with it.

So you don't have a manual. Anyone of us would have to look it up, why not you?
