81 750 4 headlight and horn was created by pcompton
Hey guys,
I have a 81 750 4. My horn stopped getting power awhile back but I didn't think anything about it figured it was the horn got a new one turned out it wasn't getting power. Now my headlight quit getting power I checked the fuses under the left side cover but I didn't see anything blown. Can someone shine some light for me I'm getting a little frustrated. Thanks guys!!

Could be in the ignition switch. The backing plate can get loose. It's just swedged on. Clean and lube the contacts by spraying carb cleaner then grease, tighten the indentation (swedges) and see if it works. Common problem on old switches.

I'd open up the switch "Pod", that has the horn button on it, looking for failed solder joints, as these bikes are starting to see the factory solder jobs, that really were not the best. The other pod that has the run/stop and start switch probably needs inspection too.

at least om my 77kz1000ltd...there is not power ( line voltage) to the horn button.
Power goes to the horn directly.....at the horn button only ground is present.if you have change the handlebars from chrome to painted ones.....you may not be getting ground.
