Have not tried it. Does it have a built in voltage regulator to prevent over charging or just dump current in?
I should buy one and put it in the beater car to keep the battery topped off.

I once bought a Moto-Guzzi that had one of these (or similar) on his shed roof to keep the bike battery topped up.
He said it was the best thing he ever bought, no flat battery issues when you're itching to go for a ride on a sunny winter's day and he swore the battery lasted longer cos of it.
Bountyhunter - Yes they do have over-charge regulators built in, or at least the ones I've seen.

from what they say it will not over charge the battery. so im thinking it has some kind of regulator in it. its also weather proof so that is a good thing.

I have successfully used them on my seasonally operated truck fleet for about 10 years. They have extended the life of the batteries to about 8 years. They occasionally go on sale for about $10. The most recent ones I bought are branded by Coleman and have a flashing blue light when charging.

The output of the newest ones I bought also has pulsing power output, which I like to think is beneficial for battery sulfate reduction.
