My turn signals are slow to come on was created by fordtruck
I hope someone can help me with this, it's really annoying. Ever since I bought my 77 KZ1000 the turn signals take forever to come on after I flip the switch. They blink normally after they finally come on. I put an electronic flasher in hoping that would fix it, but it made no difference. I'm using aftermarket signals. I've cleaned all the connections in the headlight bucket and disassembled the turn signal switch and cleaned it. What else should I be looking at? Right now I have to turn my signals on way in advance of a turn so they come on in time. It probably takes 2 seconds or more before they come on.

i have the same problem with a front blinker on my 80 kz750 ltd-h1, the rear did it too but I grounded the negative wire better and it fixed my problem.

The blinker uses internal heat to turn off and on, so if you have a bad ground or low voltage to the relay, it will do that. Time to get out your volt/ohm meter and start checking things.
Changing to an electronic blinker (like the one used for LED lights) could help mask the problem.

I did a little testing this morning. I'm getting 12V to the flasher relay. I switched out the electronic flasher to a normal flasher and for some reason now the signals are working a little better. It now only takes one second to come on after I flip the switch. I did find something that has me puzzled. The hazards only work if the turn signals are switched on. When I do this, only the turn signal flasher works. I can remove the hazard flasher all together and the hazards still work. I just have to have the hazard switch and turn signal switch both on at the same time. Weird. I tested the two wires on the hazard flasher and one of them has 12V on it when the key switch is on. I think some wires are switched around. Guess I need to dig into the harness and look at all the connections. Any thoughts or advice?

This link should enable downloading the wiring diagram from KZr's FILEBASE.

Thanks Patton. I have this in my Clymer, but it's black and white. This one is much easier to read!

May search in KZr FILEBASE for whatever model or subject, to produce links to various topics, such as wiring diagram for a specific model.
Which produces a list of links.
Good Fortune!

Patton,
Thanks for the link! I downloaded the wiring diagram for a kz1000a1. Here is the link: www.kzrider.com/filebase/search/viewdown...-general/246-z1000a1
Do you know the purpose of the diode on the turn signal flasher? I do not have that on mine.
