Spark Plug Wire Woes was created by The_Proletariat
Well I have a question about replacing spark plug wires.

1982 KZ550C3.

My ignition coils, not dynas, I believe them to be orgional, have removable plastic nuts that secure the ignition wires to the coils. The coils have a barb that fits into the wires.

I bought some copper core wires from Z1. It appears the conductor needs to be hollowed out some to fit the barb. Looks like some sort of bushing needs to be added to the wires as a stopper for the plastic nuts.

What is this dumbass missing?

If the ignition coils have a brass "Stinger", 7mm sparkplug wires should fit right in. It's possible the previous owner(s) lost the pieces for the ignition coils, leaving you with just the securing "Nuts" There should be a rubber ferrule & plastic, tapered cone, that when tightened down, locks the sparkplug wires in the coil ports, waterproofing them.

So the stinger just pierces the conductor? Not sure how the wires are going to stay tight. Seems like they would just slip through the nuts.

Is this ferrule and plastic cone removable from the stock wires? Because I have those parts.

Yes, sounds like you have all the parts. Slip the nut on the wire, then the ferrule and then rubber cone (you have a diagram in the old wires) Good luck.

I've found that rubbing Alcohol is a good lubricant for rubber pieces, as it evaporates quickly, and leaves no residue. If all the old parts are installed on the new sparkplug wires, they should hold the new ones tight.
