No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationNo eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationLike Ed said, get a GSM and test all of the stock systems. Fix any problems you find and then see if you can live with the constant maintenance needed to keep 35 year old parts working. If your bike is stock, lives indoors and never sees any rain you won't have to do much. If, while servicing your bike, you find parts that can't be saved there are lots of newer components that are better then OEM and cheeper too.
I always like to retro-fit power relays and additional ground wiring to the high amp systems (ignition, horn and headlights)on my bikes.

If you find that you need stock handle bar switches Redline has some almost OEM switches.

u will likely need a new reg rec , and coils , soon. so for peace of mind i would do it now. and u can buy a brand new wiring harness from Z1E for $125 and be happy knowing that its all new.
then clean up or replace the handle bar controls.

Thank you all for the insight. So if I'm wanting to update/upgrade my bike (after cleaning all connection)a good place to start is:

Dyna Coils (Green)
Copper plug wires with no supression caps
New R/R

Will this work?
Also school me on PMA ignition. I've read some about it as it pertains to the XS. Is it something for the KZ's. I'm sure I'm showing my ignorance.

Thanks.

First thing I do with old bikes. Pull the plug wires off and unscrew the plug caps. Cut off 1/4 to 1/2" of the plug wire, screw plug end on tight. You will see the old end is wollowed out weakening spark to the sparkplug. Better yet
use a old plug check for spark and then do the repair. Check spark again you will see the differance. Lots of spark
Lots of complaints about old coils,I never had any problems.
cheers
