gas tank low sensor
23 Oct 2012 02:47
I am leaking gas like a chili bean sampler with a loose sphincter. the fuel light sending unit is leaking right at the wires. i took it off and cleaned it then reinstalled it with some gas resistant gasket sealer. i am pretty sure now that it is leaking through the wires....drip drip drip. now as the gas is draining again i am pretty sure i will have to slab some goo on the wires and keep my eyes open for a replacement.

Re: Seal-All Low fuel switch

It's a common problem & your fix typical. I used Permatex liquid metal. My pigtail had broken off, so I repaired that as well, making it longer so that my hand wouldn't contact it when fiddling w the idle adjust thumbscrew. Also, I replaced the o-ring w one from a HF metric kit.
Edit: z1kzonly ---->>>> Seal-All It is in a yellow tube $2.79. It looks like model glue.
Been around for 30 years. seals gas!

furthermore the metal lamp i was using had a bent part connecting to the light bulb where it screws in. when i hung it on the kickstand and touched the engine while laying on the ground(no centerstand, just had it balanced on cinder blocks)... well i had fun with electricity while working with gas.

The connection is press fit or something. Over time, it becomes loose & leaks.
I'm assuming he has the same fuel level switch.

26 Oct 2012 11:28The parts diagrams at kawasaki.com usually show both the name and part number.donthaveakawman wrote: ...tried looking for a new one on ebay and i couldn't figure out what to call it.
If needed, there's a link in my sig for help with navigating.
An ebay search using only the part number often produces results.

A nos fuel level switch would be good, but they're usually priced kinda high nowadays.
Used will be listed in several ways: fuel sender, fuel sensor, gas sensor, gas gauge, fuel gage, low fuel switch, etc.
