Couple of updates. The advancer on my 77 kz650 b1 is marked "202" and according to the book advance begins at 1300-1700 and ends at 3000-3400. The specs on the 1022 advancer are starts at 1400-1600 and ends at 3000-3400 so the 1022 should be able to replace the 202 but I don't know if going the other way would be a good idea.

Initially my bike ran great but it was becoming more temperamental, especially when cold (popping and backfiring). I pulled the plugs and they had a fair amount of carbon on them. A little research turned up that I should be running 2.2ohm coils not the 5ohm that come with points. Of course Z1 has these but they were a bit expensive and I'm quickly running out of money for this project. I did manage to find some coils out of a kz1100 on eBay within my budget. Hopefully they'll last long enough for me to summon the funds for new coils. This will mean I'll have the pickup coils/advancer from a '81 650, the igniter from a '81 750', and the '82 1100 coils. She's becoming a bit of a frankenbike!
