LED signal stabilizer
12 Mar 2012 23:12
Hey guys. So I was ordering some LED turn signals from some site and they recommended a signal stabilizer unit to go along with the signals I was already buying.
This stabilizer is around $60. Do you guys know if this is something I should get? And is this a reasonable price for such a unit?
I figured there had to be a few of you out there who have switched over to LED signals and might know what to do.
Here is the link to the said stabilizer unit:

Thanks guys.

That will work, but a simpler (and much cheaper) way is to replace the mechanical flasher with a solid state or electronic flasher. If you can't find one there are cheaper load equalizers out there. All they really are is a resistor.

That stabilizer is a HORRIBLE rip off!!!
I bought my bulbs and a no-load flasher unit from superbrightleds.com
I have used the CF-12 flasher for over a year without any problems. I highly recommend it. It's less than $20.

Don't get the stabilizer or resistor. Putting a resistor in the system will totally negate the largest benefit of LEDs (lower current draw).

Might want to check out the LED compatible flashers on
www.cwswiring.com
,check out the product info sheet on the site for more info. The 552 flasher above will likely not fix the problem.

I have the EP-35 in mine, ~ $12.
The Speedmetal device would work as well..
As mentioned, load sensitive/LED low current relays are the way to go... Auto parts stores carry them for under $20...

Also good options, Rock. CWS wiring version comes with rubber mount that goes on factory tab of battery box, if it is relevant. Also, non load sensitive usually works better, the flash rate is consistent, with load sensitive, you will get different flash rates, depending on your application.

Awesome. Thanks for your input guys.
I knew it was a good idea to hold off ordering this stuff until I talked to you guys about it. That would have been a huge mistake and rip-off.
Thanks again guys, as usual you came through with great advice.

If your bike has twin turn signal indicator lamps on the dash. Simply install an electronic flasher & LED signal bulbs. Leave the incandescents in the cluster bulbs. Works great, cheap & simple

Do you leave the diode in with the LED relay? I suspect no, but I want to ask before I install the relay, Thanks.
05/11/12 - Update, used the Lockhart relay, yahoo I have LED turn signals. Now I got to figure out why the the front left signal and the right rear signal blink at the same time..... :silly:
