For the bike's with the mechanical ignition advancer,"Loudhvx" has made up a replacement for the Kawasaki IC Igniter using off the shelf GM electronic ignition modules. It depends on what you've got, but it works for twins and 4's.

The above may not link, but Lou might be along to explain his work....

Well she's done. A Big thanks to Mfolks, Loudhvx, Patton,Wired George (The man has some serious patience)and anyone else that gave me input/suggestions to finishing my R1. I'm still tweaking the carbs...it's a little boggy when I hit the throttle hard, probably a little to rich. I'll putz with it. Now the search begins for an 82' 1100!!!!!!!!!

in a world of mutant green ninjas, WOW a proper restoration!

these days you deserve kudos not just for your really great work but also for resisting the peer pressure of doing a 'cafe' with pipe wrap and stupid clip-ons and no fenders.... Compliments indeed :)

that said, nobody would have known if you slipped an 810 kit in there.... ;)

If you want increased stability for the forks, go to www.fastfromthepast.com and get a fork brace. Did that on my 1982 GPz 1100 B2 right after I bought it, and it corners like on rails.

I have a soft spot for the GPz and yours is absolutely fantastic! Definitely have my vote for Bike of the Random Time Period We Come Up With Award. You kept it stock-looking, that appeals to me as well.
Second what MFolks said about the Tarrozzi fork brace. They are a neat bit of kit and period appropriate as well.
My next project will be a GPz.
Congrats!

A way to keep your black engine "Shiney" is to get some Armor All, and on a clean cold engine spray some around, using a clean, new paint brush to get it in tight places. When the engine gets hot, it might smell a little, but it will make cleaning easier next time.

since dealing with tired springs, or just replacing them is a bit of a PITA, a stupid question:

why nobody uses 83' and up 550/750 Gpz systems with electronic advance built into the black box and a fixed rotor?
