I need help quick!!!!! was created by andler2008
I'm getting complete power and everything when key is on. But my starter won't start. The switch and everything is connected and grounded but it just won't turn over. I've found that the starter solenoid when bridged turns it over. Other than that nothing works. What is causing this?

Also I've had to jump start it with my car because the battery is dead. I did it with the car on a few times and now I've been doing it with the car off.

You blow a fuse?

I've jump started a car before... won't be doing it again. I replaced EVERYTHING (entire fuse box, regulator, rectifier, battery, etc.) as a result.

I didn't tell you this, but I once replaced a motorcycle solenoid with a riding lawnmower solenoid purchased off the shelf at Home Depot. That one worked just fine until I sold that bike. If you are willing to wait a couple of days you can order one here: www.z1enterprises.com/

Hahaha That sounds good. But I have a little weird contraption that has 2 alligator clips with a little trigger like thingy. So for now to start it I'll just bridge the solenoid to start it for now. But I just checked z1e before you said that and I went ahead and ordered it. Thank you all for your help and quick replies.

Starter lock out switch on this model?

Other serious of years/models had inline lockout switches from the start button conductor feed to the solenoid, can't say for your model unless you have the wiring diagram to look at...

Thoughts are if you bypass directly using your bikes battery and the solenoid/starter activates as expected, then thoughts are protection switch is not passing current to the starter solenoid.

Have a voltmeter?
On the solenoid conductor from the start button, press, measure ~ +12Vdc (battery voltage).
If no voltage then most likely not the solenoid...

Solenoid 12Vdc in spec (measured)?
Possibly solenoid ground is not truly grounded, verify continuity to battery (-).

Just my 2 crap thoughts....

you can use a solenoid from any 12 volt thingamajigger

all it does is use low voltage to switch high voltage
you can get one for free if you know where to look
stop trying to start the bike with a car battery
youre just gonna fuck it up,
imagine a small seasaw with a big fat fuck on one end
and a small little stupid fuck like you on the other end
well youll lift that fat fuck up if you have a long enough lever
if youre on the correct side of the seasaw the one with the longest arm
thats kinda how a soleniod works

no need to be a fucking dick jeff. ignition went bad. not the solenoid. turns out the harbor frieght voltage meter i had was reading wierd so i got a different one and found out that the coils werent getting power and what not and traced it to no power to the ignition switch. so i bridged it to power and it started up. so i'm just going to buy a new one. thanks everyone for the help and advice.
