Im looking for a bobber wiring diagram.I have a 78 kz650c and I'm just about ready to start the wiring. I have removed alot of stuff. I only have a toggle swicth for power the push button start switch headlight taillight and speedo then of course the motor wiring of course iwas even thinking about getting rid of the starter swicth. Any help?

you must first cut it up and weld it back together to be custom! Off the shelf parts only means its not factory. Get crazy cut it up and ready make it yours a true custom!

Here's a schematic he put together for someone: kzrider.com/forum/4-electrical/172746-19...bones-for-mattylight
It's in his signature.

Yes, as long as it is truly a 78 650. It has a permanent-magnet for a flywheel/alternator.

You just replace the battery with a 5000 to 12,000 microfarad capacitor (AKA battery eliminator). The bike needs to be able to start in one kick reliably. Also you have to be able to turn off all of the lights while starting.

No idea mate. I was reading in an post by the aforementioned wiring guru of the site, about a set up where they used a laptop battery to give it enough juice to run everything. I'd try doing a search for loudhvx and reading some of the posts he's written concerning what you're looking for. It's probably all there mate, you just have to look for it. Happy hunting.

EDIT-- His answer trumps mine because he actually knows what he's talking about. :)

I posted a diagram on the Mattylight thread. If it doesn't work, you can use the same diagram, but just replace the capacitor with a battery. I also have a diagram with a relay to power the lights. It automatically turns the lights off when the bike stops. To turn the lights on you press a button. I made this because I kept leaving the lights on, which made it impossible to start my batteryless bike. Now it automatically turns off and I don't have to worry about it. I just turn it on after I start the bike.

BTW, thanks for the compliments, Chaotic Reason.

Functionally, it is the same, I believe, but a wire or two may have a different color.
