Yes i have the Honda starter, and 6 gauge battery cables. it does indead turn over faster. Otakar reported that the J starter is a direct bolt on and it turns over faster as well.
76 KZ, frame gusset work,1200CC.Ported by Larry Cavanaugh, 1.5mm.over intakes, Carron Pipe, ZRX12 rear end, and seat,96zx9 front end.

I'd suggest going to 6 gauge battery cables for greater current flow. What came with most bikes is about 8 gauge in size. Also check all battery cables for internal corrosion, if you can flex the cables and they feel "Crunchy", they probably need replacing.

I've found the 6 gauge welding cable(two differnt colors, Red and Black)are more flexible than what came with the bike's. Some welding supply stores can do the terminal ends(lugs), but you might have to find a battery store if they can't.
