What gauge conductors Coil yellow & green) are you using for those look small in the images?
Should be minimum 16AWG conductors...

Also, you just have them twisted only (not soldered)?
Yeah I realize your only t-shooting right now but this calls for considerable current requirements to operate...

Again, are you positive the engine cases are grounded (same as battery (-) potential)....

Positive the KILL Switch isn't conducting?

Maybe this will help...

KZ900 and early KZ1000 are almost identical...
Bare bone minimum requirements... In all actuality, you can also use a SPST switch w/in line 20 amp fuse to replace ignition switch as well... Bypass the kill switch and bypass the starter if kick starting...

Are you using a test light or a DVOM meter? It could be a loose connection on any one of those scotch locks/ crimps/ twists. A test light will tell you where the voltage is and is not. Also ground. Do you have one?

In looking closer at your images....

See Red Boxed areas... Are these your grounds?
If so, I'd say start here and get securely terminated to the frame/battery (-)....

The one conductor into the seat mount tube, how the hell is that grounded or am I just seeing this wrong...:S

The bottom boxed area, are these just hanging onto each other or what.... Again... :S

With key on, 12v to coils + is what you want. Press start button to operate starter solenoid, which supplies the battery cable contact to turn the starter. Button should have no effect on 12v to coils.

With a Dyna III ignition, you may have both coils powered up when the key is on (and kill sitch on) until the crankshaft rotates. That means 12v to one side of each coil, and low voltage on the other side of each coil.

It's also possible for the engine o be in a position where only one coil will be powered on. That means 12v on one side of each coil, low voltage on the other side of one coil, and 12v on the other side of the other coil.

If done, will eliminate function of on-off kill switch.

Could just hook to battery positive terminal post, the basic hot wire method.

But don't leave battery power feeding coils while engine isn't running.

This is further detailed in one of your other threads.

Good Fortune! :)
